Beaumont is the county seat of Jefferson County and has a population of about 130,000. It is about 90 miles East of Houston and is about 30 miles West of Lake Charles, Louisiana. It is home to Lamar University and it’s daily newspaper is the The Beaumont Enterprise. Our founding partner, Bill Ogletree, practiced law in Beaumont and served in the District Attorney’s Office in the 1970’s. He was Head of the Special Crimes Division and also represented the office before the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on a number of significant cases. Beaumont is also home to the Dishman Art Museum, the Spindletop Museum, the Babe Didrikson Zaharias Museum and was home to legendary pop singer Janis Joplin.
