Corpus Christi literally means “Body of Christ” in Latin which was given to the area by the Spanish. The city has been nicknamed itself “The Sparkling City by the Sea” which is actually true. It’s population is about 300,000 and is home to the Naval Air Station. The Texas 13th Court of Civil Appeals is located in Corpus Christi and the Port of Corpus Christi is the 6th largest port in the United States. Corpus Christi is home to the Corpus Christi Army Depot and Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. The city’s main newspaper is the Corpus Christi Caller Times and it’s TV stations include KIII (ABC), KRIS (NBC), KZTV (CBS) and KORO (Univision).
