Waco is home to Baylor University and the Baylor Bears Football and Basketball programs. Waco’s population is about 130,000 and is home to the Texas 10th Court of Civil Appeals. Waco is home to the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and Museum. The Texas Rangers were formed as an elite law enforcement agency. The Texas Rangers were organized by Stephen F. Austin in 1823. It is the oldest state level law enforcement agency in the United States. The Rangers have taken part in a large number of famous criminal investigations and arrest in Texas and were involved in cases involving the famous gunfighter John Wesley Hardin, Sam Bass and, probably best know, Bonnie and Clyde. The Texas Rangers are the premier law enforcement agency in the State of Texas and are called to investigate the most serious crimes requiring the highest amount of skill and professionalism. Every law enforcement officer in Texas would consider it a very high honor to join the Texas Rangers.
